Chillagoe is located in dry savannah country, making it the perfect location for stargazing. With its expansive clear, dark skies, you'll wonder at the spectacle of the Milky Way with its multitudes of stars.

SO MUCH TO SEE AND DO

Explore the beautiful limestone caves. The Smelters, which are relics from the copper mining boom days of Chillagoe. Birdwatching is a favourite pastime. Cool swimming holes are plentiful. Walking tracks too.

We had a great 3 days stay here. The facilities and pool were very clean, the owners were most pleasant and helpful. On one of the nights there was a guest muso and we were given free snacks while having a few drinks. Our site was very big, and clearly marked, so we weren't hemmed in by other campers.

Had no real expectations for our outback QLD holiday but was pleasantly surprised. From stepping off the train and being introduced to Chillagoe by host Ian.The cabins were spacious and clean. If it hadn't been for COVID, would of been great to look at the stars in the observatory away from city lights."

We stayed here for one night as part of the Savanahlander tour and really enjoyed our stay. The hosts were very helpful, the rooms spacious and comfortable, and the meals very enjoyable. Given the remoteness of the place we felt the hosts did a fantastic job.
